Connecting Gorgie Dalry
The EverybodyOnline project in Gorgie Dalry is set to launch officially at the end of January.
The project is working in partnership with the Gorgie Dalry Partnership; a community and business information resource centre, City of Edinburgh Council, Capital City Partnership; a partnership of key, statutory, voluntary and community agencies and BT.
The Gorgie Dalry area is a culturally vibrant and densely populated inner-city area that includes a mix of low income families, elderly, long term unemployed; as well as a recent influx of immigrants from Eastern Europe. The area is undergoing a series of changes due to several regeneration and development initiatives with many public buildings undergoing refurbishment.
This project will build upon the strengths of existing community agencies and key partners to provide Internet facilities as well as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training within the community to enable local people to experience the benefits of digital technology. Additionally, the project will provide volunteering opportunities and relevant ICT skills to improve prospects for future education and employment.
The EverybodyOnline project will bring a digital inclusion element to a wide range of community development projects on the grounds that ICT literacy is a fundamental building block of wider social inclusion.
