Audley and Bignall End
Audley and Bignall End project is no longer active
The ward of Audley and Bignall End comprises of five distinct Villages, located five miles North West of Newcastle Under Lyme in Staffordshire. EverybodyOnline launched a pilot project there in November 2002 and closed in Ocotober 2004.
What we did
Through a variety of activities we helped residents overcome the barriers they had to technology. Activities included:
• increasing nearby access points
• working with local partners
• increasing training opportunities
• running informal computer taster sessions
• setting up local interest websites
• campaigning for lower broadband trigger levels
• working with community groups.
Social tension was also addressed by the creation of cross-generational projects which helped old and young alike understand each other better.
We got results
Since the EverybodyOnline Project launched in Audley we have measured a 14% increase in Internet use, seven times that of the average national increase as measured by the Office of National Statistics (September 2002 – April 2004).
Among one EverybodyOnline target audience, those 55+ we have seen a massive 26% increase in Internet use.
What Next?
As part of the commitment of Citizens Online and BT, we will be supporting the project into the future. This will include access to funding applications, resource support, access to key contacts and advice.
